Mental Wellness Impacting Performance
Elite athletes and teams know that strengthening their physical abilities alone is not enough to unlock their full potential since much of how they perform is affected by what/how they think, feel, and how they respond to situations. Consistently great performance requires BOTH mental fitness and well-honed mental game skills.
Mental Fitness: In a consistently high stress and intense pressure environment, an elite athlete may also experience depression, anxiety, eating disorder, panic disorder, burnout, trauma, and/or other mental health issues. In order to maintain peak performance or even remain an elite competitor, it is critical for the athlete to gain the help and skills needed to overcome or manage these difficulties, deal with life’s challenges, heal, and ultimately stay healthy, resilient, and mentally fit.
